Coordinating a Multi-Year Survey in Denham's Controlled Airspace

Preflight planning and risk assessment sit at the heart of every survey Drone Tech Aerospace flies, and a large-scale project we ran over an extended period at Denham Aerodrome put that discipline to the test. Denham sits inside EGLD controlled airspace, home to active general aviation traffic, so operating there safely meant understanding the airspace as thoroughly as the survey brief itself.

Detailed risk assessments and flight plans were prepared for every stage of the project and submitted to Denham air traffic control for approval ahead of each operation. ATC were consistently accommodating, sharing local knowledge that shaped exactly how and when we could fly, and approval was secured for every flight we needed inside EGLD controlled airspace across the life of the project.

Two years into the working relationship, our UAS team had the chance to meet the Denham tower crew in person and walk through the ongoing coordination face to face, a valuable step in a partnership that ran for the duration of one of the largest UAS projects we have delivered to date.
