Review external condition from the ground

Wind-turbine surfaces are difficult to see clearly from ground level and costly to approach only for an initial visual record. A planned drone inspection can capture systematic, high-resolution imagery for the maintenance or engineering team to review.

The capture pattern is agreed around the turbine type, required surfaces, safe standoff, weather, operating state and site controls. DTA does not assume a turbine can remain operational or must be stopped; that decision belongs in the asset-specific method agreed with the operator.

  • tips, roots and hub context;
  • visible surface changes or impact areas;
  • tower exterior and accessible external components;
  • wider asset and site context where requested.

The imagery records visible condition only. Any classification of damage, structural significance or repair priority should be made by the asset owner, manufacturer or appropriately qualified specialist unless a separately approved interpretive service is included.

Make the image set reviewable

Divide the capture by turbine, blade and surface so reviewers can trace each frame to the relevant part of the asset. For repeat inspections, retain the same element structure and comparable viewpoints where safe and practical. That creates a more useful condition history than unrelated folders of images.

Can you inspect a whole wind farm?

Multi-asset programmes can be planned, but the achievable schedule depends on turbine type, site layout, access, operating coordination, weather and the detail required for each asset.

Do you diagnose blade damage?

The standard service described here supplies organised visual evidence. Interpretation, severity classification and repair decisions remain with the relevant qualified asset professionals unless a separate approved scope says otherwise.

Can repeat images be compared?

Yes, when the inspection structure, labelling and viewpoints are retained and conditions allow a meaningful comparison. Any limitations should be recorded with the later survey.
